Charter Appoints James H. Renken Vice President and General Manager of St. Louis Metro Operations

ST LOUIS – The appointment of James H. Renken to Vice President and General Manager of St. Louis Metro Operations for Charter Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq:CHTR) was announced today by Chuck McElroy, Senior Vice President of Southeast Division Operations.

Mr. Renken joins Charter from Cox Communications, Inc. where he was Vice President of Operations Support, with responsibility for operational issues, functional coordination and infrastructure development in the deployment of all new advanced broadband services, including digital video, and high-speed Internet access and telephone. He joined Cox in 1996 as Director of Telephone Operations, subsequently becoming Director of Data Operations, Director of Residential Broadband Operations and promoted to Vice President of Operations Support in 2001.

Prior to joining Cox, Mr. Renken served for 20 years with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, now SBC, where he worked in a variety of management positions, including District Manager of Residential Services, District Manager of Strategic Planning, District Manager Product Management, and Project Manager of Broadband Deployment.

A graduate of Northeast Missouri State University with a B.S. in Education, Mr. Renken has a history of personal involvement in education outreach, including having been the president of the “Community in Schools” organization in El Paso, Texas, and appointment to the Upper Rio Grand Private Industry Council by the Governor of Texas. He has also served as a consultant to the Parkway, Missouri School System in St. Louis, assisting with process improvement, and coached high school track and field in Atlanta.
