Charter Communications Statement Regarding the Satellite Television Access and Viewer Rights Act (STAVRA) Proposal

STAMFORD, Conn., Sept. 8, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Charter Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: CHTR) today released the following statement in response to the Satellite Television Access and Viewer Rights Act (STAVRA) proposal.

"We commend Chairman Rockefeller and Ranking Member Thune for their STAVRA proposal, including the 'Local Choice' provision.  The current retransmission consent regime is broken, and the Senators' legislative proposal offers a clear and simple fix.  Stopping broadcast blackouts and increasing consumer control is a logical path forward.  The STAVRA legislation in general, and 'Local Choice' in particular, will update the law in a thoughtful way by promoting competition and keeping consumers from being harmed during business negotiations."
