MLB Advanced Media in Historic Initiative With Three Major Broadband Providers

Agreements Provide Live Broadband Content to Cablevision, Charter and Comcast Customers

NEW YORK, Apr 1, 2004 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- MLB Advanced Media (MLBAM), the interactive media and Internet company of Major League Baseball, announced today an unprecedented initiative to offer MLB.com All-Access service to three of the nation's leading cable, telecommunications and entertainment companies-Cablevision Systems Corporation (CVC) , Charter Communications, Inc. (CHTR) and Comcast Corporation (CMCSA) (CMCSK).

The premium MLB.com All-Access service enables broadband subscribers to watch live video and listen to live audio online of every game played. Every game is also available in archived format. In addition, searchable video clips and customizable highlight reels will allow subscribers to stay up-to-date with all the MLB action, throughout the season. The service also offers 20-minute game recaps all the key plays, with no down-time between pitches or innings. Subscribers can also relive unforgettable moments in baseball history with vintage radio and classic TV broadcasts of MLB games from the 1930s to the present. In addition, the service offers pre-game text notes allowing fans to stay informed of the latest moves right up to game time, delivered right to their email inbox.

The MLB.com All-Access service is a $100 retail value per season. According to their individual agreements, Cablevision, Charter and Comcast will each pay MLBAM a wholesale fee for every MLB.com All-Access subscriber. Cablevision and Charter will offer new broadband customers who sign up on time to their respective broadband services, a free season-long subscription to MLB.com All Access. In addition, existing customers of Cablevision and Charter who are interested in signing up for this premium service will receive a 20% discount off the retail price of MLB.com All-Access. Comcast is also developing special introductory offers for new and existing customers of their broadband service. The three broadband providers will assist with marketing the service, with components including substantial cross-channel advertising campaigns and online promotion.

"These agreements illustrate the growing importance of multimedia content to broadband users," said George Kliavkoff, Senior VP for Business Development at MLB Advanced Media, MLB.com and the 30 individual Club sites. "We are excited to partner with these three innovative broadband-cable providers and look forward to offering their customers some of the Internet's most compelling content -- live baseball."
